Introduction

These three video clips show the three stages of an activity.

When I grow up 1 shows the first stage of the activity where repetition and creativity go hand in hand. When I grow up 2 is a short clip which shows how the activity is developed. In When I grow up 3 you can see the final product.

Previewing tasks

Think about the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" and the type of response you might get from a group of pupils. What sort of vocabulary would they need, and how could you provide it?

Viewing tasks

Make notes on how the teacher develops the activity. How does the language change? How does movement come in? What is the pupils' perception of what they are expected to do as they go from stage to stage?
