The subject Religious studies has mentioned something about human rights and United Nations. Under the topic "view-of-life humanism" in the 1st to 4th grade, L97 points out that the children are supposed to know about the UN declaration of human rights , the UN day and the declaration about children’s rights.
Under the topic "secular view of life" in
5th to 7th grade, L97 says in addition to what is
mentioned already, that the children are supposed to know about the principle
of mutuality also called the golden rule. The golden rule says that you
shall do unto other people what you want them to do unto you.
The UN Day
The United Nations Day
is the 24th of October. It is celebrated in the
UN building in New York every year. The
United Nations Day is an important
day for international work in schools. Many
schools have turned out to be multicultural, and the United Nations Day
has been given a new meaning
and has become a common day for every pupil
no matter what ethnicity
he or she has. This special day does not
demand any special
religion or beliefs.
The man behind the notion "United Nations"
is USA’s former president
Franklin D. Roosevelt. United Nations was
first used in "Declaration by United Nations" of 1st of January
1942.
An activity for children on this day is to make the United Nations cake.
